Root Island
This is a simple model of a floating island based on the photogrammetry of a root I found in the forest.
I made this mostly to start working in substance designer, as I felt this was a gap in my knowledge.
The whole thing, was done by me over the course of 4 weeks of freetime during a study semester, while I also made the first version of this website.
I felt like the overall quality was quite mediocre, so I went back and reworked it a bit, improving on the textures, adding a waterfall, grass and some particles to it, and overall learning unity shadergraph to give it a bit of a glowup.
I was originally hesitant to do the grass, simply because it seemed like so much work with the tools I had available to me, until I realized that the object brush that my trusty programmer friend Raphael made for Chop Chop Inc, could probably be used for this aswell. Io and behold, it could, and you could probably use it, too. It is currently available on his github, get it before he ultimately puts it on the Unity Assetstore !
You can download and use the base version freely on my Sketchfab, though I dont really recommend doing that as this was more a proof of concept than an actual product.
